dc.description.abstract | Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TC) is a disease mimicking Acute Coronary syndrome with electrocardiographic changes as well as temporary, reversible regional wall motion defect in the apical and middle segments of the left ventricle. It may be associated with emotional and physical stress caused by serious medical discomfort or surgical stress. Although it is more common in postmenopausal women, it is thought that stress-induced catecholamine discharge causes TC. Intensive care patients are at high risk for emotional and physical stress due to various factors such as multisystem diseases and problems due to prolonged hospitalization. In this case report, we aimed to present the characteristics of TC following long-term intensive care follow-up of our patient who was paraplegic due to cervical trauma and conscious, and to discuss the differential diagnosis and evaluate the literature. | en_US |
