Özet

There is an increasing number of taxonomic and ecologic studies on phytoplankton, one of the biological quality elements according to the EU Water Framework Directive, in Turkey day by day. This study was carried on from 2017 to 2019 in 275 lakes lies in 25 river basins of Turkey with the aim of examining the taxonomy and biological diversity of the Cryptophyta group. It was the fourth part of the Project, entitled “Establishment of Reference Monitoring Network in Turkey”, financially and technically supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Directorate General for Water Management. In each lake, phytoplankton was sampled with water samplers from three depths (surface, middle, and bottom) of the euphotic zone, and then the water samples taken from these three depths were mixed for obtaining subsamples. The algal taxa was identified by using different light and inverted microscopes in many laboratories. A total of 24 Cryptophyta taxa were identified in the study. 9 of the identified Cryptophya taxa were presented as new records for the freshwater algal flora of Turkey
