The female of the species, whose original description was based on a male specimen, is described here for the first time. In addition, new locality information has been added to the distribution area of the species, which have previously been known to be rare in Anatolia, and male and female genitalia with photographs are given to verify the identification of the species.Öğe A review of the tribe Halyini in Turkey (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) with two new records: Apodiphus integriceps and Mustha vicina(Gazi Entomological Research Soc, 2010) Fent, Meral; Dursun, Ahmet; Karsavuran, Yusuf; Tezcan, Serdar; Demirozer, OzanThe tribe Halyini Amyot & Serville, 1843 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) which has been represented in Turkey so far by 6 species from 3 genera is reviewed and identification keys, morphological figures and the distributional patterns in Turkey and Palaearctic region of the formerly determined species (Carenoplistus acutus (Signoret, 1880), Apodiphus amygdali (Germar, 1817), Mustha spinosula (Lefebvre, 1831), M. longispinis Reuter, 1890, M. izmirensis Memon & Ahmad, 2008) as well as of two new records (Apodiphus integriceps Horvath, 1888 and Mustha vicina Hoberlandt, 1997) are given. The possibility of introduction of A. integriceps to Turkey with plant saplings and thus its alien status is discussed. Previously recorded M. incana Stal, 1876 in Turkish Heteroptera fauna is proved to be actually M. vicina and therefore M. incana is excluded from the faunal list of the Turkish Heteroptera. Furthermore, the distribution of the tribe Halyini in Turkey was presented by ascertaining the exact identification of some species given with wrong information in previous studies.Öğe Safahat'ın sistematik sözlüğü(Trakya Üniversitesi, 1999) Dursun, Ahmet; Aktaş, HasanIV ÖZET "Safahat'ın Sistematik Sözlüğü" adını alan bu çalışma, Teşekkür bölümü dışında üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Anahtar Kelimeler : Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Safahat, Sözlük, Kelime, Kavram.Öğe Type Localities of Heteroptera (Insecta: Hemiptera) from Turkey(Magnolia Press, 2017) Dursun, Ahmet; Fent, MeralThe Heteroptera (Hemiptera) fauna of the Palaearctic Region is represented by 9365 species belonging to 1632 genera of which 1349 species belonging to 469 genera are also recorded from Turkey. Type localities of 237 species are in Turkey of which 108 species and 4 subspecies are endemic for the Heteroptera fauna of Turkey, indicating the importance of the country as a refugium, genetic hotspot and dispersal centre during pleistocene glaciation. Some heteroptera are important in agriculture as predators used in biological control or as ectoparasits and pests on plants. Most heteropteran species are phytophagous feeding on leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds and shoots and cause economic damage. The suborder Heteroptera comprises aquatic, semi-aquatic and terrestrial species.Öğe AN UP-TO-DATE CHECKLIST OF TURKISH PENTATOMIDAE (HEMIPTERA: HETEROPTERA) WITH ADDITIONAL RECORDS(Trakya Univ Balkan Yerlesesi Enstituler Binasi, 2022) Fent, Meral; Dursun, AhmetIn this study, an up-to-date list of Pentatomidae family, one of the large families of Heteroptera suborder, in Turkiye with the latest taxonomic developments is presented. As a result of the literature review, 61 genera and 174 species/subspecies (2 species only in European Turkiye, 97 species only in Asian Turkiye) belonging to 4 subfamilies and 13 tribes from the Turkish Pentatomidae fauna were determined. Distribution of the species by subfamilies: 14 species of Asopinae (10 in European and 13 in Asian Turkiye), 125 species of Pentatominae (57 in European and 125 in Asian Turkiye), 1 species of Phyllocephalinae (only in Asian Turkiye) and 34 species of Podopinae (10 in European and 33 in Asian Turkiye). Of these species, 172 are native and 2 are introduced. The distributions of these species in Turkiye (in European and Asian Turkiye), Palaearctic distributions and changes in their taxonomic positions are given. In addition, additional records for 53 species, mainly from the Thrace Region, were given from various localities in Thrace and Anatolia. Pentatoma rufipes (Linnaeus, 1758) is first record for the Thrace Region. Four species, which were given in 19th century without a specific locality record, need to be verified. Two species, their names, are excluded from the Turkiye list.Öğe Variant Analysis of the Sirtuin (SIRT1) Gene in Multiple Sclerosis(Kuwait Medical Assoc, 2013) Edgunlu, Tuba Gokdogan; Celik, Sevim Karakas; Emre, Ufuk; Unal, Aysun Eroglu; Dursun, AhmetObjective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease affecting the central nervous system. Although the exact pathogenesis of MS is unknown, it is generally considered to be an autoimmune disease, with numerous genetic and environmental factors determining disease susceptibility and severity. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is a neuroprotective enzyme in MS patients. The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between a genetic variant of SIRT1 and MS. Design: Controlled prospective study Setting: Department of Neurology, Bulent Ecevit University Medical Faculty, Zonguldak, Turkey Subjects and Methods: We determined SIRT1 genotypes by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and confronting two-pair primers (CTPP) methods in 93 MS patients and 100 healthy controls Intervention: For genetic analysis, 5 ml of venous blood was drawn from each patient into tubes containing EDTA Main Outcome Measures: SIRT1 gene polymorphisms and recorded expanded disability status scale (EDSS) for MS patients Results: We found a significant difference between the rs2273773 polymorphism of the SIRT1 gene of MS and the control group (p = 0.011). We also found an association between MS disease and the haplotypes of rs7895833, rs7069102 and rs2273773 polymorphisms. Conclusion: We have shown that rs2273773 polymorphism of the SIRT1 gene might be a risk factor for MS disease in the Turkish population. Also, additional studies are needed to clarify the role of the SIRT1 gene in the pathogenesis of MS disease.
