Okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların bilişsel işlevleri uygulama performanslarının sosyoekonomik düzeye göre incelenmesi
Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to examine the cognitive functions of preschool
children according to the socioeconomic level variable. The research is designed in
relational screening model and the sample of the research consists of 124 (64 girls, 60
boys) children studying in kindergartens and kindergartens in the city center of Edirne
under the Ministry of National Education. In the study, the "General Information
Form" created by the researcher to collect demographic information and the
"Application of Cognitive Functions Scale" developed by Lidz and Jepsen (2007),
adapted to Turkish culture by Akşin Yavuz (2016), were used to evaluate the cognitive
functions of children. In the study, the normality of the data was tested, since the
distribution normality was ensured, Independent Group t-test and One-Way Analysis
of Variance (ANOVA) techniques were used in the analysis of the data.
According to the results of the study, it was determined that the socioeconomic
level of families, family income level, parents' education level and the working status
of the mother were effective in the performance of children's cognitive functions, while
the gender and number of siblings did not make any difference. It has been determined
that as the socioeconomic level, income level and education level of the parents
increase, the cognitive function performance of the children also increases. In addition,
it was found that the performance of the children of working mothers in applying
cognitive functions was higher than the children of non-working mothers.
