In the high pressure aluminum injection method, it is expected that the casting
mold will be produced with a long life and appropriate standards. In order to meet this
expectation, the part design should be determined well at the beginning of the mold
production and the processes up to the molding stage should be carefully calculated and
decided. In the thesis study, the engine connection part produced with the raw material
EN AC 46000 series aluminum alloy in the automotive industry was researched and
design studies were carried out. Calculations were made according to the porosity and
desired compression tests according to the technical drawing specifications of the part,
and within these calculations, real machine parameters were tested for simulation values
and simulation studies were carried out. As the machine parameters, the production phase
of the casting consists of a total of 3 phases. These phases are 1st phase, 2nd phase and
3rd phase. In the 1st phase, the liquid metal is transmitted into the mold with the injection
piston movement. The 2nd phase is activated before the liquid metal takes the inner state
of the mold, and the liquid metal takes the inner state of the mold at high speed. After the
liquid metal injection is finished, the 3rd phase is activated and the piston is compressed
with pressure and the injection process ends in this way. According to the simulation
values, the runner design and parameters were tested and the mold was produced. After
the casting trials, measurement and porosity studies were carried out and the part was
produced in accordance with the instructions.
