Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin nicel analizleri için SPSS 11.5 (Statistical Package for the Social Science) programı kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin başarı, fene karşı tutum ve bilimsel süreç becerileri açısından öntestleri kontrol altına alınarak sontestleri arasındaki farklılıkları tespit etmek amacıyla tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA), bilgi kalıcılığını belirlemek için ise t-testi kullanılmıştır. Oyun Değerlendirme Formundan elde edilen nitel verilerin analizinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada “Işık ve Ses” ve “Yaşamımızdaki Elektrik” ünitesi kapsamında araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen bilimsel içerikli eğitsel oyunların öğrencilerin akademik başarısını arttırdığı gözlemlenirken; “Işık ve Ses” ünitesi kapsamında öğrenciler tarafından hazırlanan bilimsel içerikli eğitsel oyunların öğrenci başarısını arttırdığı ancak “Yaşamımızdaki Elektrik” ünitesi kapsamında yine öğrenciler tarafından hazırlanan oyunların öğrenci başarısını arttırmadığı gözlemlenmiştir. Benzer şekilde araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen bilimsel içerikli eğitsel oyunların oynandığı deney grubu öğrencilerinde bilgi kalıcılığı sağlandığı belirlenirken; öğrenciler tarafından hazırlanan bilimsel içerikli eğitsel oyunların oynandığı deney grubu ve derslerine oyun dahil edilmeyen kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin bilgi kalıcılığında belirgin bir düşüş olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin bilimsel süreç becerileri gelişimini ise gerek araştırmacı gerekse öğrenciler tarafından hazırlanan oyunların arttırdığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Bunun yanında çalışmada, bilimsel içerikli eğitsel oyunların öğrencilerin fene karşı tutumlarında bir değişiklik yaratmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizi sonucunda araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen bilimsel içerikli eğitsel oyunları oynayan öğrencilerin tamamının oyunlara karşı olumlu görüşe sahip olduğu görülmüştür. This study aimed to investigate the effect of science-based games developed by the researcher and science students on the success, knowledge permanence, scientific process skills of the secondary school (fifth grade) students and find out their attitudes towards the sciences. The study was conducted within the scope of the “Light and Sound” and “Electricity in Our Lives” units. The study population consisted of 63 fifth grade students from Selahaddin Eyyubi Secondary School in Ağrı Province Taşlıçay District during the academic year of 20162017. Three groups took part in the study. Out of the sampling groups, 21 students were engaged in the science-based games developed by the researcher during the courses (the first experimental group), and the group consisting of 22 students were engaged in the science-based games that they prepared. As for the control group consisting of 20 students, no science-based games were included in the courses. A mixed method was used in the study; qualitative and quantitative. A pre- and post-test control group model, a quasi-experimental study model, was utilized for the study. The three sampling groups completed the “Light and Sound Achievement Test”, “Electricity Achievement Test”, “Scientific Process Evaluation Test” and “Attitude Scale vii towards Sciences” as pre-tests. After the science-based games were played within the class, the same tests were administered to both experimental groups. Then, the “Light and Sound Achievement Test” and “Electricity Achievement Test” were administered three months after these tests to discover the permanence of the knowledge of these three groups. In addition, a “Game Evaluation Form” was completed by the group playing with the science-based games. The quantitative data was analyzed using the SPSS 11.5. One-way variance analysis (ANOVA) was used to determine the differences between the pre- and post-tests of the students after checking the pre-test results in terms of students success, attitudes towards sciences and scientific process skills. The t-test was used to determine the permanence of knowledge. Content analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data obtained from the Game Evaluation Form. The science-based games developed by the researcher within the scope of the “Light and Sound Achievement Test” and “Electricity in Our Lives” units contributed to the academic achievement of the students. In addition, the science-based games developed by the students within the scope of “Light and Sound” was found to contribute to the students academic achievement. However, the games developed by the students within the scope of “Electricity in Our Lives” did not increase students achievement. Similarly, the science-based games games developed by the researcher ensured the permanence of knowledge in the experimental group. However, a decrease was observed in the permanence of knowledge in the control group and the experimental group provided with science-based games that were developed by the students. The scientific process skills of the students were promoted by the games developed by the games of both students and the researcher. Furthermore, the science-based games did not have any effect on students attitudes towards sciences. All students who played the science-based games developed by the researcher had a positive opinion regarding the games.
