Arms Trade Between Germany and Turkey during the Republican Period 1923-1945
(Turk Tarih Kurumu, 2015) Turk, Fahri
The Turkish-German relations regarding arms and munition trade in the Ottoman time were promoted in the republican era as well, in which Turkey concentrated on establishing factories with German aid in order to produce these weapons by herself rather than importing them from Germany as it was practised in recent decades. On the other hand, according to Versay Treaty German weapon traders were prohibited from producing arms and munitions in their homeland. As German traders were forced to produce weapons abroad in order to gain benefit, they considered Turkey as natural partner. This article deals with the Turkish-German arms trade between 1923 and 1945, which bases overwhelmingly on documents from the archives by the Political Archives of German Foreign Ministry

Multilingualism of Edirne during the 19th century in the Ottoman era
(Josip Juraj Strossmayer Univ, Fac Philosophy, 2012) Turk, Fahri
Every community had to use and teach its own language in the Ottoman time in Turkey. Especially in the cities such as Istanbul, Thessalonica and Edirne (Adrianopel) a lot of people lived in a linguistically diverse environment, Jews, Armenian, Greek and Bulgarian communities in due time opening their own schools. Especially Edirne profiled itself as a cosmopolitan city in this respect in the Ottoman time. Bulgarian and Polish people migrated to the district of Edirne for the first time in the 19th century and established twelve schools in Edirne. One of these schools was a catholic one, founded by the Polish Resurrectionists. The multi-ethnicity of Edirne had a huge impact on the linguistic diversity of the inhabitants of the city, which was caused by the Ottoman migration policy throughout the centuries. In the era of Suleyman the Magnificent a lot of handicraftsmen of Armenian origin were invited to Edirne in order to live in the city and strengthen its economy. A number of Jews came to Edirne after their exodus from Spain and Portugal in 1492 and 1495. This paper explores the effects of multilingualism on the economic and social life of Edirne in the 19th century.

(Hale Sivgin, 2017) Turk, Fahri; Kaya, Emirhan
Krupp company emerged as an important actor regarding Turkish-German relations as a result of its activities particularly in the field of arms trade after the second half of the 19th century. The company's effectiveness in various sectors and industrial branches in the Republican era drew attention to its activities in civilian areas. Thus, it emerged as a fact that Krupp's investments and export of industrial materials contributed to the development of Turkish industry. Accordingly, this study aims to demonstrate how and to what extent Krupp contributed to the development of Turkish industry from 1923 to 1990. Within this respect, the firm's investments in the fields such as railway construction, chrome trade, shipbuilding, mining, iron and steel industry and tourism as well as the mutual visits of company officials and Turkish statesmen were examined in this study.
