    Biometric relationship between body size and bone lengths of Carassius gibelio and Rutilus frisii from Iznik lake

    Biometric relationship between bone dimensions and body size are presented for non-native gibel carp and native black sea roach in Iznik Lake, Turkey. Regressions of the data were highly significant, with coefficients variation of the determination > 89% in most of cases. Non-linear and linear functions provided the best fit for black sea roach and gibel carp, respectively. The maximum values of relative errors of different structure’s measures for black sea roach were considerably higher than those of in gibel carp. Such information facilitates the assessment of the potential role of these fish species in the diet of piscivorous fauna.

    One of the endemic freshwater fish species of Turkey, Gobio sakaryaensis Turan, Ekmekçi, Luskova & Mendel, 2012 is reported for the first time from the Lake Sapanca Basin. A total of 18 G.sakaryaensis specimens was captured using electroshocker on October 18, 2008 and February 5,2009 from the Maşukiye Stream (western Lake Sapanca). This finding has increased the numberof the fish species living in the basin. The value of parameter b in the LWR equation was calculated3.176.
