Öğe Chondrodermatitis Nodularis Helicis Chronica: Answer of the Last Issue Case Question(Ortadogu Ad Pres & Publ Co, 2010) Arican, Ozer; Piskin, Suleyman; Onver, Nese; Puyan, Fulya Oz[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Effects of IVIG and Pulse Steroid Therapy in a Case of Allopurinol Induced DRESS Syndrome(Aves Press Ltd, 2018) Korkmaz, Selma; Gunay, Elif; Can, Nuray; Ficicioglu, Sezin; Piskin, SuleymanDrug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) is a drug reaction that causes peripheral eosinophilia and primarily renal and hepatic insufficiency and dysfunction of other visceral organs with skin rash as noticeable symptom. Early diagnosis and discontinuation of the culprit drug along with rapid treatment are required to reduce mortality rate. Herein, a case of allopurinol-induced DRESS syndrome is presented in which the patient was resistant to medium dose systemic steroid therapy and was treated with pulse steroid and IVIG treatment successfully. Pulse steroid therapy may be an alternative treatment option in refractory DRESS syndrome.Öğe Metachronous primary cutaneous malignant melanoma in a patient with laryngeal carcinoma(Kare Publ, 2011) Gorgulu, Adnan; Piskin, Suleyman; Gursel, Yildiz; Yalcin, Omer; Karagol, HakanMultiple primary tumors have long been considered as a feature of laryngeal carcinoma. The most common sites of primary tumors appearing during the course of laryngeal carcinoma were, in order, the lung, mouth and oropharynx. However, primary cutaneous neoplasm reported during the course of laryngeal carcinoma occurs very rarely. We report a case of primary cutaneous malignant melanoma that developed during the follow-up of a 43-year-old male with primary laryngeal carcinoma. We review the literature with these recent developments.Öğe Nasopharyngeal carcinoma with extensive nodular skin metastases: A case report(Sage Publications Ltd, 2006) Caloglu, Murat; Uygun, Kazim; Altaner, Semsi; Uzal, Cem; Kocak, Zafer; Piskin, SuleymanSkin metastasis from nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a rare clinical finding. The most common form of appearance is a few solitary skin nodules. However, massive and extensive nodular dissemination or diffuse dermal lymphatic infiltration is extremely rare. We here present a case of a 40-year-old man with widespread nodular skin metastases from undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Öğe Serum osteopontin levels in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and its relation with oxidative stress(Galenos Publ House, 2023) Kilinc, Cem; Korkmaz, Selma; Ozgun, Gulben Sayilan; Ficicioglu, Sezin Kuru; Piskin, SuleymanBackground and Design: Oxidative stress is known to play a role in the etiopathogenesis of psoriasis. Recent data suggest that osteopontin (OPN) can also play a role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. In the current study, OPN levels and oxidative stress were evaluated in patients with psoriasis.Materials and Methods: The study included 61 patients with psoriasis and 62 healthy controls. The OPN levels, total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), and oxidative stress index (OSI) were measured using serum. The disease severity was evaluated using the psoriasis area and severity index (PASI).Results: No statistically significant differences in OPN, TAS, and OSI values were identified between the psoriasis and control groups. A negative correlation was found with the TAS. There was no statistically significant correlation between the PASI score and OPN, TAS, TOS, and OSI values. Conclusion: We did not find a statistically significant correlation between OPN levels and oxidative stress in patients with psoriasis. We believe that larger and more detailed studies are needed to highlight the role of OPN and oxidative stress in the etiopathogenesis of psoriasis.
