İcra üzerinden yapılan inceleme sonucunda çalgının unutulmuş olduğu düşünülen, kendine has icra üslubuna dair çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur.
Yapılan bu çalışma ile çalgının sosyal, kültürel ve akademik alanda daha çok yer almasının sağlanması ve kullanım alanının artırılması amaçlanmıştır Thanks to its different shapes and performance characteristics, lavta is an instrument that found a place for itself in various geographies and periods. The lavta, which is discussed in the study, is unique to Istanbul and is a part of the entertainment culture such as in coffee houses and taverns. In order to explain the geography where it is performed and to avoid confusion with other lavtas, in this study the instrument is named as the Istanbul lavta. Among the performance stylistic features of the Istanbul lavta, which is known to be a part of the Kabasaz ensemble and is mostly intended for entertainment music, there are important aspects such as the plectrum stroke directions, the use of the bam sound
accompanying the melody, and the rhythmic structure. The instrument with its unique performance features was mostly used in the 19th century by Greek musicians. It is known that at the beginning of the 20th century, the instrument fell out of favor due to various cultural and musical reasons and its area of use almost disappeared. In addition to the limited number of traceable and accessible written sources about the instrument, the first audio recordings that can be accessed today are the improvisations of Tanburî Cemil Bey. The Istanbul lavta survived from Cemil Bey to the present day thanks to the special interests demonstrated by various musicians and researchers. In this study, audio and video recordings of the performance of Enver Mete Aslan’s Kürdîlihicazkâr Zeybek by himself with the Istanbul lavta was made and in the examination, the picks, finger placements and various ornament methods in the performance were tried to be explained with notes and writing. As a result of the examination made through performance, inferences were made about the unique performance style of the instrument, which was thought to be forgotten. Moving from this point of view, it was understood that frequent use of lower plectrum beats, giving the upper open strings the role of a dem sound accompanying the melody, adding dynamics to the performance with rhythmic infrastructure created by using the upper strings were the important performance features of the instrument. In addition, it was observed that dividing the existing notes into smaller notes/note groups and performing the divided note/note groups using open strings had an important effect on the melodic and rhythmic enrichment of the performance. Purpose of this study is to
understand the unique performance style of the instrument, which is thought to be forgotten, and to increase the recognition and usability of the instrument.
