p=0,006).

disorder manic episodes using video-based emotion analysis.
This cross-sectional study was performed with patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder
manic episodes (n=47), treated in the psychiatry inpatient service of Trakya University Hospital
between 25.11.2019 and 07.04.2021. The data were obtained using the personal information
form prepared by the researchers, the Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), and the

emotion recognition program. The Wilcoxon test, Friedman test, Kruskal-Wallis
and Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze the data. Spearman's correlation analysis was
used to examine the relationships between the variables.
Upon examining the relationship between the patients' emotions of happiness, sadness,
anger, disgust, surprise, and fear and the mean score of the YMRS, a statistically significant
positive correlation was detected between the YMRS score and emotions of sadness and anger
as the patients showed clinical recovery (r=0.368; p=0.059; r=0.431; p=0.025, respectively).
Accordingly, it was determined that as the patients' clinical recovery increased, both the feeling
of sadness and the feeling of anger decreased. A statistically significant negative correlation
was identified between the patients' YMRS score and their feeling of fear (r=-0.515, p=0.006).
In line with this, it was revealed that as the clinical recovery of the patients increased, their
feeling of fear also increased. It was found that as the patients' duration of illness increased,
their feelings of sadness and anger increased significantly (p=0.025; p=0.044, respectively).
It was revealed that as the patients' clinical recovery level increased, the feeling of fear
increased, and the feelings of anger and sadness decreased. It was determined that as the
patients' duration of illness increased, the feelings of anger and sadness also increased.
