Her iki plan sayısal
Within the scope of the thesis, it is aimed to reveal the relationship between the
urbanization and water that Istanbul lived in between the 16-19 centuries and to determine
the development in the neighborhoods by mapping the numerical data of the water
distribution system. In this context, the urban development of Istanbul has been examined
on a neighborhood scale with a method based on calculating and mapping the basis of
numerical data such as flow rate, construction date, line length and elevation values of
fountains. Kırkçeşme Water Facility was chosen as an example and the city was divided
into 31 different regions considering the water distribution plan. The distribution plan and
fountains were determined by topographical devices by going out to the field. The data
obtained were transferred to the digital environment on the Autocad Program and the plan
of the entire water distribution system was drawn up. In addition, through historical maps
and written sources, the buildings built between the 16-19 centuries in Istanbul were
marked on the parcels with the color scanning method on the current city plan. Both plans
were overlaid in the digital environment and the development of the neighborhoods and
the water network were compared. The result of research:‘‘It has been proven by the
obtained numerical and visual data that fountains contribute to the emergence of new
neighborhoods and the acceleration of development processes’’.
